Hello everyone,
I don't know how many of you will remember me, but I remember quite a few of you. :-)
I took Topamax for 2 years for migraines and small seizures. It was a wonder drug for me (for controlling the seizures and almost wiping out my headaches). Unfortunately, I had to go off it for several different reasons. The worst being a horrible itch that occurred only when I tried to sweat. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this side effect, but I would LOVE to hear from you if you have. I was on it for 1.5 years with no problems before this side effect started. When spring came, I couldn't be outside with my kids because I could not sweat without extreme itching (and when I saw extreme, I mean the worst itch ever)!
Anyway, it went away when I went off it, and I went on Zonegran instead (which many doctors refer to as Topamax-lite). It worked fine for the seizures, but never worked as well for my migraines. My headaches have been so bad lately, that my neuro and I have decided to give it another try at a lower dose and see if that itching/sweating side effect happens again. And since winter is on its way, I may just deal with it (I'm freezing most of the time anyway).
So, I just started it again 3 days ago. We'll see how it goes.
I'm glad to have this sight. It was a LIFE SAVER when I was on it before.
Take care,
Jane
